Our featured speaker, Dr. Hany Takla, is a board-certified surgeon at the Orlando Health Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery Institute, and he will be sharing his wealth of knowledge on improving health and wellness.
Meet Dr. Hany Takla
Dr. Hany Takla brings extensive expertise to the table, with specializations in:
- Bariatric surgery
- Robotic surgery
- Foregut and reflux surgery
- Bariatric endoscopy
- Abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia repair
Having completed over 1,600 robotic procedures and more than 500 weight-loss surgeries, Dr. Takla’s dedication to providing quality care and individualized attention to every patient has made him a highly regarded surgeon. He is passionate about helping people enhance their health and quality of life through advanced surgical procedures and personalized care.
Dr. Takla’s Journey and Expertise
Dr. Takla received his medical training at Cairo University Medical School in Egypt. His comprehensive training continued with general surgery residencies at the University of Washington in Seattle and the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School in Worcester. He further honed his expertise during a fellowship in minimally invasive and robotic surgery at Banner – University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona.
Dr. Takla is board certified in surgery, with a focused practice designation in metabolic and bariatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and several other prestigious organizations.
Accomplishments and Recognition
Before joining Orlando Health, Dr. Takla served as a surgeon in numerous New England hospitals, where he held leadership roles such as medical director of robotic surgery and chair of the surgery department. He was recognized twice as a Top Doctor for General Surgery by Boston Magazine and has made significant contributions to the field of robotic and bariatric surgery, both through global presentations and published works.
Outside of the Operating Room
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Takla is an avid traveler, runner, and kite surfer. Fluent in both English and Arabic, he embraces a diverse range of experiences that complement his work as a leading surgeon.
